It's opening of classes once again. Is your child exited to go back to school or does he hate it? Be aware of the most usual reasons why children would resist going to school and how you can manage the situation:
1. Anxiety. Learn to mange this fearful time by building up your child's confidence. Foster his confidence by taking him to school so he could learn his way around, or rehearse at home, in case he has to speak in class or meet new people.
2. Loneliness. Bolster your child's social skills and teach him new "friendship openers" such as "My name's John. What's yours?". Tell him his good points to make him feel good about himself.
3. Trouble Learning. Kids with learning disabilities often get frustrated, fail to finish assignments or appear to ignore the teacher. As a parent, learn to be observant and sensitive so that you can have your child checked, and be able to remedy the situation.
Strive to always have an open communication line with your child so that you can find a solution to your child's school problems.
